Most Psilocybe cubensis grows the way you'd expect — a cap on a stem. Enigma doesn't. It forms a dense, convoluted mass most often compared to a brain or a lump of coral, with no cap and no gills.
That's because Enigma is a mutation, and a consequential one: it produces no spores at all. Every mushroom strain that reproduces normally can be propagated from spores by anyone with a kit. Enigma can only be propagated by cloning existing tissue, which means supply is limited by how many growers hold viable genetics and are willing to maintain them.
That's the whole reason it's scarce and expensive — not marketing, just biology.
Because Enigma grows so densely and matures slowly, it packs considerably more mass into the same volume than a conventional fruiting body. Reported potency by weight generally runs above even Albino Penis Envy, which is already the strongest strain in our regular range.
This is not a beginner's strain by any reading, and it isn't a strain to approach casually if your reference point is Golden Teacher. Dosing by eye or by habit is a poor idea here.
