Oakland, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco have each adopted local measures deprioritizing enforcement against natural psychedelics. San Diego has not. There is no San Diego ordinance decriminalizing psilocybin, and no county-level measure either.
At the state level, SB 58 would have decriminalized possession of several natural psychedelics statewide; it passed the legislature and was vetoed in 2023. So California law continues to treat psilocybin as a controlled substance, and federal law classifies it Schedule I regardless of any state or city position.
